Acura MDX Preview
What To Expect
Although they haven’t published a dedicated release, Acura recently announced plans to refresh the MDX for the 2025 model year. The only info we have so far is from a company-wide announcement from parent company Honda, but it did clue us in on some of the flagship SUV’s upcoming improvements. Here’s what we know about the refreshed 2025 Acura MDX so far.
Honda‘s recent yearly outlook document provided some key info on what to expect for the 2025 Acura MDX. While the biggest news from the Acura brand is the arrival of the ZDX EV and the debut of an entirely new compact crossover, the brand’s best-selling vehicle is set to receive some notable enhancements.
Some styling changes are in order, but we’re still a ways away from the 2025 MDX’s reveal. That being said, we’re expecting its exterior updates to err more on the side of subtle tweaks rather than a complete overhaul, as this generation MDX was introduced for the 2022 model year and tends to be regarded as one of the more attractive offerings in the segment.
Perhaps the most notable change for the 2025 MDX comes in the interior. The current MDX features a touchpad to control its infotainment system, and while functional, can be considered a weak point when compared to the touchscreens that have become commonplace among competitors.
That’ll change with the refresh, as the 2025 MDX will see its touchpad replaced by a touchscreen. Other interior updates include a new operating system for said screen that has Google built-in, more driver assistance features, and a Bang and Olufsen stereo.
We haven’t heard anything about powertrain changes for 2025, and we aren’t expecting more than minor upgrades if any at all. The current MDX is powered by a choice of two V6 engines. The base engine is a naturally aspirated 3.5L V6 that develops 290 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque.
Upgrading to the Type-S model gets you the 3.0L turbocharged unit shared with the TLX Type S sport sedan that churns out 355 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque. Front-wheel drive is standard on non-Type S models with all-wheel drive as an optional extra, while the Type S model is AWD-only.
2025 Acura MDX Price & Release Date
Acura has yet to divulge pricing for the 2025 MDX. 2024 MDX pricing ranges from $51,500 to $74,695 but we’re expecting a price increase to coincide with the refresh. We’ll have a better idea of how significant the MSRP increase will be once we definitively know how comprehensive the changes will be.
No release date has been made available yet, but we’re expecting the 2025 MDX to arrive on lots later this year.
The 2025 Acura MDX will compete with the Audi Q7, BMW X5, Genesis GV80, Lexus TX, Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class, and Volvo XC90.
