BMW 5-SeriesWhat To Expect
BMW introduced a fully redesigned 5-Series for the 2024 model year. With the eighth-gen 5-Series set to enter its second model year, the 2025 model will arrive as a carryover model.
The exterior design of the 2025 BMW 5-Series is expected to go unchanged for the upcoming model year. The midsize sedan will arrive with swept-back headlights, large kidney grilles, and an angular front fascia. The bottom portion of the 5-Series sedan’s body will have a black trim piece, bringing some flash to the sedan’s design. At the back, the 5-Series features slim taillights, chrome U-shaped elements, and a rounded bumper.
The interior of the BMW 5-Series has moved to a high-tech design with enormous screens that dominate the dashboard. The simple dash is split by a horizontal vent, has minimal physical controls, and has a trim piece that lines up with a trim piece on the door. BMW has dropped a traditional gear shifter in favor of a much smaller one that frees up storage space on the transmission tunnel. The 5-Series is available with vegan leather upholstery and high-end materials.
Every 2025 BMW 5-Series will arrive with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a 14.9-inch touchscreen. The screens are running BMW’s latest Operating System 8.5. Standard features include a Harman Kardon audio system, a wireless charging pad, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Bluetooth. Available features include gesture controls, a Bowers and Wilkins audio system, and a head-up display.
2025 BMW 5-Series Engine & Specs
The 2025 model year brings a new powertrain option for the 5-Series. The base engine remains a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 255 horsepower. Upgrading to the 540i will get you a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine that produces 375 hp. Both engines feature a mild-hybrid system. New for 2025 is the 550e xDrive, a plug-in hybrid. The PHEV combines the inline-six from the 540i with an electric motor, bringing total output to 483 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. Being an xDrive model, all-wheel drive is standard.
2025 BMW 5-Series Safety
Standard features on the 2025 BMW 5-Series include automatic high-beam assist, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, lane departure warning, park assist, and parking sensors. Available safety features include Parking Assistant Plus, adaptive cruise control, Active Driving Assistant, Active Driving Assistant Pro, and Highway Assistant.
2025 BMW 5-Series Price
Pricing for the current BMW 5-Series ranges from $58,895 to $65,895. Without any changes, the 2025 5-Series is expected to have a similar range.
The 5-Series competes against other midsize sedans like the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Audi A6, Genesis G80, Volvo S90, and Lexus ES.
