Even as Buick this week introduced a new gasoline-powered model, the Envista subcompact SUV, the automaker is taking its first steps towards electrification. The first EV to arrive is the 2025 Electra E5, scheduled for 2024. A lot of information has been leaked about it, including images and dimensions that place it, to give you an idea, between the Envison and Enclave SUVs in terms of length. Now we have more details about its technical specifications.
2025 Buick Electra E5 Design
For example, the brand’s first electric vehicle to use General Motors’ (GM) Ultium platform will be available in China, where it will launch first, with two- or four-wheel drive configurations via single- or dual-motor powertrains. Buyers will have a choice of 68- or 80-kWh batteries. Different trim levels will be available, including the more upscale Avenir variant. In all, the 2025 Buick Electra E5 will be available in five different forms. We’ll have to wait to know the details about the Canadian lineup, though; there may be some minor differences.
Buick Electra E5 Interior
Inside the car is a 30″ curved 6k display with a built-in Qualcomm 8155 chip and 5G technology. 14 speakers from BOSE take care of the audio experience. Every trim comes with a sunroof. The trunk has 502 liters of space, which grows to 1658 liters if you fold the rear row of seats. Under the trunk cover, you will find an additional 4.5 liters of storage space. Buick Electra E5 will be assembled in the new SAIC-GM plant in Wuhan.

Buick Electra E5 Comfort
While we don’t know what kinds of models and colors the Electra will come in, we can speculate based on Buick’s current lineup. If Buick follows its current trends, it’ll offer an Electra E5 in “Preferred,” “Essence,” and “Avenir” trims, in order of price and features from low to high. Of course, that’s just the naming scheme though — as for what kinds of features the different models have, we’ll still have to wait and see. The same goes for colors. Buick has released concept images of an Electra E5 in a light metallic blue, but it remains to be seen if that color will end up being available — and what other colors it’ll come in.
Buick Electra E5 Dimensions
As for its dimensions, the Buick Electra E5 is a mid-size SUV and is similar to other cars in its class, such as the Toyota Highlander. From a visual perspective, the car is longer and wider than the Highlander but has a longer wheelbase.

2025 Buick Electra E5 EV Motor
Buick is no stranger to a rich experience; however, the Electra E5 delivers an experience we’ve never experienced before. For instance, the 12.6-inch color head-up display offers ambient interior lighting with 121 colorways. Nonetheless, based on the images of the forthcoming EV SUV, Buick’s ready to turn up the heat in the luxury department.

It’s too early to tell how lush the material will be inside the future Buick Electra E5. Deciding if America’s variation will resemble what’s in store for the Chinese market is too premature. However, based on the images we’ve witnessed, the SUV will become a smash hit in the US. As a result, enthusiasts are hopeful for a 2025 model, which will likely premiere towards the end of 2024.
Buick Electra E5 Battery
uick has yet to reveal details about the performance of the Buick Electra, but again, as a car built on the Ultium platform, it may offer similar performance to the Lyriq. The rear-wheel drive Lyriq can get from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds, while the all-wheel drive model reaches speed in 4.6 seconds. It’s likely that the Electra will offer similar numbers, but again, that remains to be seen.
