What To Expect
GMC has made a few meaningful updates for the Sierra 1500 over the past few years. With the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 set to arrive in the near future, we expect the full-size pickup truck to be a carryover model. Reports indicate that a full redesign could be in the cards for the 2026 model year.
As a carryover model, the exterior design of the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 isn’t expected to change compared to the current model that’s on sale. The current Sierra 1500 has a premium exterior design with C-shaped daytime running lights, an enormous square grille, and a simple front bumper. Large fender flares are located on the side of the truck, while the rear end has straightforward taillights and a hefty rear bumper with integrated steps.
The interior design of the GMC Sierra 1500 varies wildly depending on trim. Lower Sierra 1500 trims have a simple, durable design with a straightforward dashboard with a small central screen, large physical controls, and economical materials. Higher trim levels have a tiered dashboard with air vents sitting at the top of the dash, a large central touchscreen, a slim row of physical controls, a stubby shifter on the center console, and premium materials. The 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 should have the same interior design as the current truck that’s on sale.
Standard tech features with the current GMC Sierra 1500 include a seven-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six audio speakers, and a USB port. These features should continue to be standard with the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500. The pickup truck is available with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.4-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone compatibility, a Wi-Fi hotspot, a wireless charging pad, a Bose audio system, and satellite radio.
2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Engine & Specs
GMC offers a wide lineup of powertrains with the Sierra 1500. We expect these engines to continue to be available for 2025. The Sierra 1500 comes standard with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 310 horsepower. A 5.3-liter V8 engine and a 6.2-liter V8 engine are available. They make 355 hp and 420 hp, respectively. GMC also has an available 3.0-liter turbo-diesel six-cylinder engine that produces 305 hp. A 10-speed automatic transmission is standard.
When properly equipped, the GMC Sierra 1500 can tow up to 13,200 pounds and has a payload capacity of up to 2,240 pounds.
2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Safety
Standard safety features on the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 should include pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist. Available safety features should include adaptive cruise control, General Motors’ Super Cruise system, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera.
2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Price
Pricing for the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 isn’t available yet. As a carryover model, the 2025 Sierra 1500 should continue to have a similar price tag to the current truck that’s on sale. The Sierra 1500 ranges from $38,345 to $84,990.
Competitors in the full-size pickup truck segment include the Chevrolet Silverado 1500, Ford F-150, Ram 1500, and Toyota Tundra.
2025 GMC Sierra 1500 Release Date
GMC typically introduces the Sierra 1500 around August. We expect the 2025 GMC Sierra 1500 to arrive August 2024. More information on the pickup truck should become available within the next few months.
