The current generation of the Mazda CX-50 was introduced in 2023 as an all-new vehicle, but Mazda updated the compact SUV in 2024 with a revised lineup and updated steering. For the 2025 model year, the CX-50 is rumored to get a mid-cycle refresh. Here’s what we know about the 2025 Mazda CX-50.
With a possible refresh, the 2025 Mazda CX-50 could arrive with an updated exterior design. With the CX-50 being such a new model, we expect Mazda’s refresh for the 2025 CX-50 to be light. The compact SUV could arrive with updated headlights, a slightly updated grille, revised rear taillights, and new paint colors. The overall design of the current CX-50 should remain the same.
On the inside, we don’t expect a dramatically different interior design for the 2025 Mazda CX-50. The current compact SUV features a premium interior design with upscale materials, great fit and finish, and elegant lines. A possible refresh could see the 2025 CX-50 arrive with a slightly updated center console, a new design for the instrument cluster, and a revised steering wheel.
We don’t know what Mazda has in store for the 2025 CX-50’s possible refresh when it comes to tech features. The current CX-50 comes standard with a 10.25-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight audio speakers, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an HD Radio. Available features include a wireless charging pad, navigation, 12 audio speakers, and satellite radio.
2025 Mazda CX-50 Engine & Specs
The largest change for the 2025 Mazda CX-50 is expected to happen under the hood. The current SUV comes standard with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque. A turbocharged version of the engine is available and is rated at 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard.
Reports indicate that the 2025 CX-50 could arrive with a new hybrid engine. Information on the hybrid powertrain is scarce, but Mazda could use a detuned version of the plug-in hybrid engine found in the larger CX-70 PHEV and CX-90 PHEV.
2025 Mazda CX-50 Safety
We don’t expect to see any major changes to the Mazda CX-50’s list of safety features for the 2025 model year. The current SUV comes with a driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, automatic high-beam assist, and adaptive cruise control.
Available safety features include a surround-view camera, parking sensors, a head-up display, traffic-jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and reverse automatic emergency braking.
2025 Mazda CX-50 Price
Pricing for the 2025 Mazda CX-50 hasn’t been announced yet. A refresh could see the 2025 model year become more expensive than the current model’s MSRP that ranges from $31,675 to $44,675.
Competitors in the compact SUV segment include the Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, Subaru Forester, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, Toyota RAV4, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Ford Escape.
2025 Mazda CX-50 Release Date
Mazda has not shared any information on when the 2025 CX-50 will come out. We could see the compact SUV as early as the end of 2024. More information on the compact SUV should become available within the next few months.
