What To Expect
The current generation of the Mazda CX-50 was introduced in 2023 as an all-new vehicle, but Mazda updated the compact SUV in 2024 with a revised lineup and updated steering. For the 2025 model year, the CX-50 arrives with updated safety features, while a new hybrid model has been added to the lineup. Here’s what we know about the 2025 Mazda CX-50 and the 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid.
The 2025 Mazda CX-50 will continue to have the same exterior design as the current model that’s on sale. The compact SUV has a premium exterior design with slim headlights, an oval grille, and a rounded body. Compared to Mazda’s other SUVs, the CX-50 has a more rugged look with widened fenders, robust body cladding, large vents, and dual exhaust outlets. Mazda claims that the new CX-50 Hybrid has unique wheel designs and a special lower front bumper, but the overall design of the electrified model remains close to the gas-powered model.
The interior design of the 2025 Mazda CX-50 won’t change for the new model year. The current compact SUV features a premium interior design with upscale materials, great fit and finish, and elegant lines. Chunky air vents and a tiered dashboard match the CX-50’s rugged exterior look, while a sleek three-pronged steering wheel and simple dials are sportier touches on the SUV.
Mazda hasn’t announced all of the 2025 Mazda CX-50’s standard features yet, but we don’t expect to see any major changes. The SUV will be available with a 10.25-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, eight audio speakers, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a wireless charging pad, satellite radio, navigation, and an HD Radio.
2025 Mazda CX-50 Engine & Specs
The largest change for the 2025 Mazda CX-50 is the introduction of a new hybrid powertrain. A 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine will continue to be standard and is rated at 187 horsepower and 185 pound-feet of torque. A turbocharged version of the engine is available and is rated at 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. Both engines are paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive is standard.
For 2025, Mazda has come out with the 2025 CX-50 Hybrid. It features the same hybrid powertrain as the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. The hybrid engine combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors for 219 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque. The hybrid model is rated at up to 38 mpg combined and comes with a continuously variable automatic transmission. AWD is standard with the CX-50 Hybrid.
2025 Mazda CX-50 Safety
Mazda claims that the 2025 CX-50 comes with an updated i-Activsense suite of advanced safety features. The SUV now comes with rear-seat alert, vehicle exit warning, and an upgraded Smart Brake Support system that includes nighttime pedestrian detection and head-on collision mitigation.
Available safety features should include driver-attention monitor, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind spot monitoring, automatic high-beam assist, adaptive cruise control, a surround-view camera, parking sensors, a head-up display, traffic-jam assist, traffic sign recognition, and reverse automatic emergency braking.
