Subaru WRX

What To Expect

The 2025 Subaru WRX will likely retain the styling, features, and performance hardware of the current model. For 2024, Subaru’s EyeSight safety tech system became standard on all models, and the TR (Tuner-Ready) trim returned to the lineup. According to reports, the WRX may receive a refresh for 2026 and convert to electric power as early as 2027.

The WRX will continue with aggressive styling elements, including a hood scoop, angled front fascia, quad exhaust outlets, and black lower-body cladding. The five-passenger interior features a flat-bottom steering wheel, red stitching, and an 11.6-inch vertical touchscreen. Available equipment currently includes a Harman Kardon sound system, adaptive headlights, and upgraded braking and suspension systems.

2025 Subaru WRX Engine & Specs

The carryover powertrain includes a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 271 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. All-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission are standard on the WRX, and buyers can opt for a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

The manual-only TR trim adds Brembo performance brakes, stiffer suspension tuning, and summer performance tires. The line-topping GT features an adaptive suspension and a sport-tuned CVT with manual mode.

According to the latest EPA estimates, the WRX delivers 22 miles per gallon combined with the manual transmission and 21 mpg combined with the CVT.

2025 Subaru WRX Safety

We expect the EyeSight driver-assistance system to remain standard on the WRX. The bundle includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. The upper trims also come with evasive steering assist.

The WRX earns a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ designation from IIHS.

2025 Subaru WRX Price

Pricing should remain at present levels, subject to the usual inflationary increase. The WRX’s current MSRP starts at $33,855 including destination and climbs to $45,335 for the GT.

The WRX competes with other compact performance cars like the Volkswagen Golf RToyota GR CorollaHonda Civic Type R, and Hyundai Elantra N.
