Volkswagen ID.4

What To Expect

The 2025 Volkswagen ID.4 will likely stand part following a significant increase in power and interior upgrades for the 2024 model year. The current ID.4 debuted earlier this year with new electric powerplants, a larger touchscreen on upper trims, a redesigned steering wheel and shifter, and standard ventilated front seats. We expect the ID.4 to continue without major change ahead of an anticipated redesign for 2026.

The ID.4 carries five passengers in two rows and up to 30.3 cubic feet of cargo. With the rear seat folded, capacity expands to 64.2 cubic feet. The tech-heavy interior features digital instrumentation, a standard 12.0-inch touchscreen, navigation, and wireless phone integration and charging. The available 12.9-inch touschreen offers backlit controls for climate and volume.

2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Engine & Specs

The ID.4 lineup starts with a single 201-horsepower electric motor mounted over the rear wheels and a 62-kWh battery pack. The standard powertrain delivers an estimated 209 miles of range. Buyers can upgrade to an 82-kWh battery, which boosts output to 282 hp and range to 291 miles. The top choice is a dual-motor AWD setup with the larger battery battery and 330 hp. Dual-motor versions have a range of 263 miles.

All ID.4 models are rated to tow up to 2,700 pounds.

2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Safety

The current ID.4 carries an impressive load of standard safety and driver-assistance features, which we’re confident will continue for 2025. Every ID.4 comes equipped with adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, automated parking, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, automatic high beams, and automatic emergency braking.

Crash-test results for the current ID.4 are still pending. For the 2023 model year, the ID.4 received a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA and was an IIHS Top Safety Pick+.

2025 Volkswagen ID.4 Price

We expect the 2025 ID.4 will be priced just slightly above the current model, which ranges from about $41,000 to $54,00 including destination.
