What To Expect
The 2026 MINI Countryman will likely see minimal change for its second year in its current form. A substantially larger Countryman arrived for the 2025 model year, boasting standard all-wheel drive, more powerful turbocharged engines, and an all-electrical variant. MINI may add a front-drive base model to the lineup for 2026.
The five-passenger Countryman now offers up to 51.2 cubic feet of cargo space. Standard interior features currently include a 9.4-inch circular touchscreen, wireless charging, a head-up display, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel. The line-topping Iconic trim adds a Harman Kardon sound system, power front seats, and various tech upgrades.
2026 MINI Countryman Engine & Specs
We expect the Countryman’s three powertrain choices to continue for 2026. The Countryman S carries a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 241 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. The John Cooper Works trim gets a high-output version of the 2.0-liter with 312 hp. Both models come with AWD and a seven-speed automatic transmission. The gas Countryman can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
The Countryman Electric is powered by dual electric motors producing a total of 308 hp and 364 lb-ft of torque. AWD and a 64.6-kWh battery complete the mechanical setup. We estimate the Electric can travel up to 230 miles on a full charge. MINI has indicated it plans to offer a single-motor version, which could arrive in time for the 2026 model year.
The Countryman S is EPA-rated at 24 miles per gallon city, 32 mpg highway, and 27 combined. Ratings for the John Cooper Works and Electric are still pending.
2026 MINI Countryman Safety
The Countryman will likely retain its current standard driver-assistance features, including blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. The Iconic trim picks up adaptive cruise control, automated parking, and a semi-autonomous driving system known as Driving Assistant Professional.
2026 MINI Countryman Price
We anticipate only a slight price increase for 2026. The current Countryman S starts at $39,895 including destination, and the John Cooper Works is priced from $47,895. If a front-drive model is introduced, it will certainly be priced below the S.
The Countryman Electric starts at $46,195. The potential single-motor model could be about $5,000 cheaper.
The Countryman will compete with premium small SUVs like the BMW X1, Audi Q3, Lexus UX, and Cadillac XT4.
