What To Expect
The 2026 MINI Hardtop will likely be a carryover of the redesigned model that arrived this year. The latest MINI Hardtop retains the brand’s signature character while incorporating updated design elements and tech features. The recent makeover included upgraded interior materials and a switch to standard four-cylinder turbo power.
The current two-door Hardtop offers seating for four and 34.4 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seat folded. The interior features a 9.4-inch circular touchscreen, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and a head-up display. MINI plans to offer a four-door version within the next year that will likely accommodate five passengers and a touch more cargo.
2026 MINI Hardtop Engine & Specs
All gas Hardtop models carry a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. An eight-speed automatic transmission sends power to the front wheels. In the Cooper S trim, the engine develops 201 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque. Ratings for the base Cooper trim aren’t available yet, but we expect it to produce around 160 hp.
The Cooper S is EPA-rated at 28 miles per gallon city, 39 mpg highway, and 32 combined.
The Cooper Electric E comes with a single electric motor good for 184 hp and a 40-kWh battery. We expect this setup to offer about 200 miles of range. The Cooper Electric SE gets a 215-hp motor and 54-kWh battery. Range should increase to about 240 miles with the larger battery.
2026 MINI Hardtop Safety
Every MINI Hardtop currently comes with lane-keeping assist, parking sensors, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection. Available features include blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and automated parking. An interior view camera is also available. These items will certainly continue for 2026.
2026 MINI Hardtop Price
We expect pricing to reflect a modest inflationary increase only. For 2025, the MINI Hardtop starts at $29,945 including destination, and goes to $33,195 for the Copper S before options. The Copper Electric currently starts around $30,000 for the E and $35,000 for the SE.
The MINI Hardtop will compete with premium compacts like the BMW 2-Series, Audi A3, and Acura Integra.
