The first all-electric from Jeep, which is a brand that’s known for its rugged SUVs, will be the pricey and luxurious Wagoneer S. The American automaker, though, isn’t turning a blind eye to the concept of an affordable EV. Jeep has confirmed that a $25,000 electric car is coming in the future and that it will be named the Renegade. Here’s what we currently know about the 2027 Jeep Renegade EV.
According to a report from InsideEVs, Jeep will revive the Renegade nameplate with the 2027 Jeep Renegade EV, which will become part of a three-pronged lineup of electric SUVs with the Wagoneer S and Recon. The automaker reportedly showcased a North America Product Plan presentation at Stellantis’ annual Investor Day event that confirmed the EV was coming in the future.
Based on the presentation, the all-new 2027 Jeep Renegade EV will be the smallest electric vehicle in Jeep’s lineup. Jeep classifies the Wagoneer S and Recon as “mid-size UVs.” While Jeep didn’t provide any pictures of the Renegade EV’s design, we do know that it will be one of the smaller options available on the market.
2027 Jeep Renegade EV Engine & Specs
Car and Driver reports that Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares claimed that the automaker will need to produce lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries if it wants to be able to sell the 2027 Jeep Renegade EV for $25,000. Based on that statement, we know that the Renegade EV will come with LFP batteries, though we don’t know what kind of battery capacity it will have or how much range it will have.
The upcoming 2027 Jeep Renegade EV will be the smallest EV in Jeep’s lineup, sitting below the Wagoneer S and Recon. The latter is a Wrangler-sized SUV that’s expected to be fully revealed before the end of this year. The Recon is expected to be a highly capable off-roader with advanced features and a rugged design. Jeep hasn’t shared any of the Recon’s specs yet, but the 2027 Jeep Renegade EV should be a more road-oriented EV that leaves some room when it comes to range and performance compared to the Recon.
2027 Jeep Renegade EV Price & Release Date
While Jeep claims that the 2027 Renegade EV will start at $25,000 and come out for the 2027 model year, the automaker’s plans could change between now and then.
