Model Preview Toyota Tacoma
After arriving as a fully redesigned model for 2024, the Toyota Tacoma is expected to be a carryover model for the 2025 model year. Toyota’s redesign for the 2024 Tacoma was thorough, so we’re not expecting to see a lot of changes from the brand’s venerable midsize pickup truck.
The exterior design of the 2025 Toyota Tacoma should match the current pickup that’s on sale. The truck has a rugged design with a small oval grille, curved headlights, angular elements on the front fascia, and a rugged front bumper.
Along the side, the pickup truck has wide fender flares, a boxy design, and an enlarged hood. At the back, the Tacoma features a durable rear bumper, rectangular taillights, and a simple tailgate. More rugged trims have burlier exterior designs, while we expect the 2025 Tacoma to continue to be available in extended cab and crew cab body styles.
Toyota isn’t expected to make any changes to the Tacoma’s interior design for the 2025 model year. The midsize pickup truck features a modern interior design with a tiered dashboard, a chunky four-pronged steering wheel, and a large central touchscreen. The truck has some rugged features that include rectangular air vents, large grab handles, sizable controls, and numerous controls for off-roading. The placement of the central display at the front of the dashboard makes it easy to access, while the large controls for the HVAC system are intuitive to use.
We still don’t have a full list of tech features for the 2024 Toyota Tacoma and Toyota hasn’t provided any official details on the 2025 model’s tech features. The midsize pickup will come with a standard eight-inch touchscreen and a seven-inch digital instrument cluster. Available features should include a 14-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a JBL audio system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a portable speaker, and Toyota’s Smart Card key.
The standard engine in the 2025 Tacoma is expected to be a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The motor is rated at 228 horsepower, but the majority of trims get an upgraded version of the engine that’s rated at 278 hp. The engine can be paired with a six speed manual transmission or an eight speed automatic. Rear-wheel drive is standard and four-wheel drive is available.
The 2025 Tacoma will come with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 system as standard. Standard safety features on the pickup truck should include automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam assist.
Toyota’s new Proactive Driving Assist system, which gently applies the brakes when the truck is entering a curve, will be available. We also expect blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert to be available.
