2025 Honda CR-V  What To Expect

The Hyundai Nexo and Toyota Mirai are the only two hydrogen-powered cars on sale in the U.S. That’s expected to change in the near future with the introduction of the 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell that’s being built in partnership with General Motors. The CR-V Fuel Cell will be Honda’s second hydrogen-powered car, following the Clarity Fuel cell, which was discontinued in 2021. Here’s what we know about the 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell.

The 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell will have a similar design to the current CR-V that’s on sale, but will have a few unique touches. The front end of the CR-V Fuel Cell features slim headlights, a thin grille, a wide air intake, and chiseled edges on the front fascia. The back of the hydrogen SUV has L-shaped taillights that start at the roofline and end halfway up the liftgate, a prominent body line in liftgate, and a black horizontal trim piece that outlines the Honda badge. Compared to the gas-powered CR-V, the CR-V Fuel Cell has a slightly sportier design.

Based on images that Honda has shared of the 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell, the SUV will have a similar design to the regular CR-V. The SUV will have an elegant design with a simple dashboard, honeycomb trim that covers the air vents, a central touchscreen that sits on top of the dash, and physical controls for the HVAC system. Unlike the gas-powered CR-V that has a traditional gear shifter, the CR-V Fuel Cell will have push-button controls for the transmission.

Honda has confirmed that the 2025 CR-V Fuel cell will come with a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, a nine-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system.

2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell Engine & Specs

At the moment, we know that the 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell will have a single electric motor on the front wheels that delivers 174 horsepower and 229 pound-feet of torque. The CR-V Fuel Cell has two hydrogen tanks that are positioned under the rear seats and underneath the cargo floor, as well as a 17.7-kWh battery pack.

The SUV, reportedly, has an official driving range of up to 270 miles. Fuel economy figures are 61 MPGe city, 62 MPGe highway, and 57 MPGe combined. The CR-V Fuel Cell will be able to travel up to 29 miles on electricity alone.

2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell Safety

We expect the 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell to be available with advanced safety features. The Honda Sensing suite of safety features should be standard. Standard safety features on the 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell should include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and traffic sign recognition.

2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell Price

Information on how much the 2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell will cost isn’t available yet. The CR-V Fuel Cell should be more expensive than the CR-V and CR-V Hybrid.

The only hydrogen-powered cars on the market include the Toyota Mirai and Hyundai Nexo.

2025 Honda CR-V Fuel Cell Release Date

Honda will offer the 2025 CR-V Fuel Cell in a single Touring trim. The SUV will only be available for customers to lease in California beginning before the end of 2024. More information on the CR-V Fuel Cell should become available within the next few months.

Please check back for updates as they become available.
