Nissan Launch Future EV – Nissan is the latest carmaker to reveal its ambitious plans for electric vehicles, and we’re pleased to see four new concept cars that provide a glimpse of some of the 15 new EV models that will be available by 2030. This Surf-Out design, a tiny pickup truck, is possibly the most notable of these, but we were also drawn in by the Max-Out retractable sports car. A boxy crossover named the Hang-Out is also included, while another tiny SUV idea called the Chill-Out appears to be the most production-ready.

While precise dimensions are hard to determine, the Surf-Out appears to be a tiny pickup truck that could fit in the lineup below the mid-sized Frontier. It boasts a futuristic design with intriguing lighting configurations on both sides, as well as an uncluttered interior with an enormous display that spans the entire length of the dashboard. Nissan claims it has some off-road potential thanks to its e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system, as well as an onboard generator.

This convertible is the most sporty of the four designs, with a low-slung stance and a focus on performance. Nissan claims that it is lightweight with a low center of gravity. The two chairs are customizable and can be flattened into the floor to change the interior layout.

This boxy little SUV resembles a spiritual successor to the Nissan Cube. It features a low floor and a towering roof, creating a lounge-like, large space. The four seats can be rotated and moved in a variety of arrangements, including one that forms a movie-theater-like environment with an overhead projector and a big screen at the back of the cabin. It, like the other ideas, features e-4ORCE all-wheel drive and ProPilot driver assistance systems.

Nissan Chill Out Concept

The Chill-Out, the most futuristic of the prototypes, appears to predict a production model that isn’t too far off. It resembles the Ariya but is slightly smaller, and Nissan claims it runs on the company’s CMF-EV platform. We expect this to emerge sooner rather than later as a subcompact EV crossover that will be smaller and less expensive than the Ariya.

Nissan is expected to release additional information about its ambitious EV aspirations shortly. Other claims include a new battery plant in the United States that will be operational in fiscal year 2025, as well as EVs accounting for 40% of the company’s U.S. sales by fiscal year 2030.
