What To Expect
The 2025 BMW 2-Series will likely arrive without notable change to either body style. The current two-door coupe debuted in 2022, and the four-door Gran Coupe dates back to 2020. The Gran Coupe is due for a redesign within the next two years, followed by an all-new version of the coupe.
The 2-Series coupe and Gran Coupe ride on distinct platforms with shared equipment and engineering. Both models rank as subcompact, with the Gran Coupe offering slightly more rear legroom and trunk space. Standard features include a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10-speaker sound system, automatic wipers, and front power seats. The M Sport Package brings suspension upgrades and an aerodynamic body kit. The 2-Series carries the lowest base price in the BMW lineup.
2025 BMW 2-Series Engine & Specs
The rear-drive 2-Series coupe starts in 230i trim with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft or torque. The M240i coupe carries a 3.0-liter six-cylinder turbo for a boost to 382 hp and 369 lb-ft. All-wheel drive is available with both engines, and every 2-Series gets an eight-speed automatic transmission. According to BMW, the M240i with AWD can hit 60 mph in 4.1 seconds.
The Gran Coupe switches to front-wheel drive, and AWD remains available. The 228i Gran Coupe runs with a 228-hp version of the 2.0-liter turbo, and the M235i comes with a high-output 2.0-liter with 301 hp. The Gran Coupe M235i is the only 2-Series model with standard AWD. We expect all 2-Series powertrains to continue for 2025.
2025 BMW 2-Series Safety
We expect BMW to offer a full roster of driver-assistance technology on the 2025 2-Series. All models currently come with lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic emergency braking. Available upgrades include adaptive cruise control, surround-view cameras, and automated parking.
The 2-Series Gran Coupe receives a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS.
2025 BMW 2-Series Price
A modest inflationary price increase is likely for 2025. The 230i coupe currently starts at $40,495 including destination, and the M240i coupe is priced from $50,695. The Gran Coupe ranges from $39,395 to $49,295.
The 2-Series will compete with entry-level luxury cars like the Audi A3, Acura Integra, Cadillac CT4, and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class.
