The 2025 BMW Z4 goes above and beyond the typical fun-loving attitude of sports cars by featuring a soft-top arrangement that allows you to enjoy the sun while speeding along your favorite roads. The Toyota Supra, which shares the Z4’s BMW-based mechanicals, and the Porsche 718 Boxster are two competitors that are more interested in handling twisty roads than the small roadster.
2025 BMW Z4 Redesign
However, there are several visual changes to the BMW Z4. The manual M40i is the only Z4 with staggered wheels, 19-inch in the front and 20 inches in the rear. It comes equipped with black mirrors, grille, and logo trims, which are available in the ordinary variant. There are also distinctive paint and interior design options available. The manual package only includes two green options: San Remo Green and Frozen Deep Green (a matte color from the BMW Individual program). The same is true for a black and Cognac leather interior with black piping.
BMW Z4 Interior
The 2025 BWM Z4 boasts a high-quality interior, as do all current BMWs. It could have the nicest interior in its class. It has luxurious materials, outstanding panel fitment, and excellent control placement. The seats feel comfy, and have thick strengthens to keep you seated as you enjoy the BMW Z4’s features. There is also more space inside than you may anticipate, even for those taller than six feet. The well-insulated fabric roof seals tightly. When the top is up, the 2024 BMW’s interior is surprisingly quiet, with so little wind or road noise that it almost feels like a coupe.

This pulls quickly at the push of a button. A wind blocker is standard to reduce buffeting with the top-down and works well even at high speeds. Interior storage is also ample. The Z4’s cabin features many storage bins, including one in the center console and a felt-lined cubby to the left of the steering wheel. There’s also a netting shelf behind the chairs and two large cupholders in front. The Z4’s trunk is only 10 cubic feet, but it can hold enough luggage for two on a fast weekend road trip.

2025 BMW Z4 Engine
The 2025 BMW Z4 is powered by the brand’s excellent 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which produces plenty of torque and feels more powerful than its 255 horsepower. The M40i variant features a 382 horsepower turbocharged inline-six engine. The automatic Z4 will remain the faster of the two roadsters, reaching 60 mph in 3.9 seconds vs 4.2 seconds for the six-speed stick. There are no power changes between the two M40i models.

BMW Z4 Fuel Efficiency
Given its impressive performance, the Z4 may surprise you as one of the most fuel-efficient sports vehicles in its class. The federal government rates the Z4 sDrive30i’s fuel efficiency as 25 mpg in city driving and 32 mpg on the freeway. With its substantially higher horsepower, the Z4 M40i’s energy efficiency is slightly lower, with 22 mpg city and 29 mpg highway. On our 75-mph highway fuel efficiency route, the M40i variant outperformed its rating, achieving an excellent 37 mpg.
BMW Z4 MPH Times
In our tests, the sDrive30i variant reached 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. That’s faster, but still slower than a 718 Boxster. The automatic M40i variant accelerated quickly, reaching 60 mph in under 3.5 seconds. BMW claims the M40i with the six-speed manual can reach 60 mph in 4.2 seconds, but we anticipate surpassing that figure when we have a chance to test it ourselves.
