The sporty 2025 Volkswagen GLI is getting a refresh for the new model year. The compact sedan has an updated exterior design and some new tech features. Here’s what shoppers need to know about the upcoming 2025 Volkswagen GLI.
The exterior design of the 2025 Volkswagen GLI has been slightly updated for the new model year. The sedan now has a sharper look thanks to slimmer headlights, a slimmer grille, an available LED light bar that connects the headlights, and revised front and rear bumpers. VW has also added some new paint colors and wheel designs for 2025.
On the inside, the 2025 Volkswagen GLI has an updated design with a new dashboard that has horizontal slats that hide the air vent on the passenger side, a touchscreen that’s now positioned in front of the dash instead of inside of it, and touch-capacitive controls for the HVAC system. The rest of the sedan’s design remains the same as the outgoing model.
The 2025 Volkswagen GLI now comes with a new 8-inch touchscreen. Volkswagen hasn’t shared all of the GLI’s tech features yet, but the sedan is expected to come with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a digital instrument cluster, a wireless charging pad, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
2025 Volkswagen GLI Engine & Specs
Volkswagen will continue to offer the 2025 GLI with a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard and a 7-speed automatic transmission is available. Front-wheel drive is standard.
2025 Volkswagen GLI Safety
The 2025 Volkswagen GLI comes with the automaker’s IQ.Drive system as standard. Standard safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and pedestrian detection.
2025 Volkswagen GLI Price
Pricing for the 2025 Volkswagen GLI hasn’t been announced yet. We expect pricing to increase over the current model which starts at $29,310.
Competitors in the segment include the Volkswagen GTI, Honda Civic Si, Hyundai Elantra N, Honda Civic Type R, and Toyota GR Corolla.
2025 Volkswagen GLI Release Date
The 2025 Volkswagen GLI is expected to go on sale before the end of the third quarter. More information on the performance-oriented sedan should come out within the next few months.
