What To Expect
The 2025 Volkswagen Taos is arriving with a facelift for the upcoming model year. With a facelift, we should see new design features both inside and out which will pull the Taos forward into the modern world of SUVs.
We expect the Taos to have sleeker lines with fewer body creases, and an exciting new look.
To this end, Volkswagen offers the 2024 Taos in SE Black trim. This is a design package that accents the bold exterior styling of Taos with black wheels, a black roof, darkened exterior design elements, and projector headlights with an illuminated front grille. It also features gloss black dash decor and blue interior stitching.
We aren’t sure if we can expect this treatment on the upcoming 2025 model as well, but we do expect a new front and rear end, new lights, and an updated interior with the latest technology.
2025 Volkswagen Taos Engine & Specs
The 2025 VW Taos should retain the same engine as the current model on sale. The 2024 Taos features a turbocharged 1.5L four-cylinder engine that makes 158 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. The engine is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard.
We expect the 2025 Taos to retain its same overall dimensions. The compact SUV is 175.8 inches long, 72.5 inches wide, and 64.4 inches tall with seating for up to five people. There are 27.9 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, and 65.9 cubic feet of total space with the seats dropped.
2025 Volkswagen Taos Safety
The current Taos comes with a decent list of standard safety features, and we don’t expect this to change for the 2025 model. The 2024 Taos comes with Volkswagen’s IQ.Drive suite of safety features which include automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assist, and lane departure warning.
2025 Volkswagen Taos Price
We don’t expect the 2025 VW Taos to get a big price bump, but with a facelift, we expect it to run slightly higher than the MSRP of the 2024 Volkswagen Taos, which starts at $24,920.
The Taos will compete against other compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Kona, Subaru Crosstrek, Ford Bronco Sport, Kia Seltos, and Mazda CX-30.
2025 Volkswagen Taos Release Date
According to Volkswagen, the refreshed Taos will arrive in the the third quarter of this year. We expect to see the 2025 Taos by the end of summer. Stay tuned for updates as they happen.
