Model Preview

Polestar is coming out with many new models in the next few years, and one that is turning heads is the electric roadster, the 2026 Polestar 6. Unveiled in Los Angeles earlier this year, the automaker has confirmed that the concept car will be going into production and will build on the brand’s vision for sports cars of the future with its design, technology, and sustainability.

The Polestar 6 will be built on a bonded aluminum platform and will be a hard-top convertible. Based on the concept pictures, it will feature the same angular and sharp features that the company is known for giving it’s vehicles. For the launch, Polestar is making 500 units of an “LA Concept” edition that will exclusively have a sky blue body color paired with a light leather interior and 21-inch wheels.

It appears as though the brand wants to give the interior of the Polestar 6 a digital gauge, a vertical infotainment screen that looks to be at least 10 inches, and a dial gear shifter. These are based on the concept photos, however, and no details have been confirmed, so they are subject to change.

The Polestar 6 will feature an in-house-developed powertrain that consists of an 800-volt electric architecture which will also be used for the 2024 Polestar 5. This high-performance powertrain will have dual motors, have a top speed of 155 mph, give up to 884 horsepower and 663 pound-feet of torque, and be able to reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. This could intrigue consumers who want a sports car that is both eco-friendly and powerful.

Pricing & Release Date

The Polestar 6 is expected to start production sometime in 2026, though industry conditions are constantly changing. However, consumers who are interested are able to reserve a “build slot” for the Polestar 6 on the automaker’s website.

Polestar hasn’t announced what kind of pricing range we could be looking at for the 6. This isn’t surprising as it is still years away and not many details are currently known. Other EV sports cars in the industry tend to run pricey, so it wouldn’t be shocking for the 6 to have an MSRP of $100,000.

Though lack of pricing makes finding exact competition tricky, as an electric sports car, the 2026 Polestar 6 will compete against the likes of the Porsche MacanPorsche TaycanTesla Model S, and Audi e-tron GT.

More details will be provided in the coming years as production gets underway, so be sure to check back for more information.
