What To Expect
The BMW iX3 has been sold in global markets for a few years now, but the upcoming generation is poised to make its way stateside. BMW hasn’t made an official release on the electric crossover yet and we still have more questions than answers, but here’s what we know so far about the all-new 2025 BMW iX3.
The BMW iX3 has served as the all-electric counterpart to the X3 crossover in the European, Chinese, and Australian markets since 2020 but has never been sold in the US. That’s expected to change following the iX3’s upcoming redesign. The compact EV is reportedly migrating to the Neue Klasse platform, which would be a major departure from the iX3 we’ve seen from around the world.
Spy shots from Car and Driver reveal a camouflaged prototype that doesn’t look too dissimilar to the Vision Neue Klasse concept BMW unveiled last fall. Although it appears to be toned down a little from the concept, the iX3 prototype wears a distinctly Neue Klasse front “grille” that simultaneously looks futuristic and calls back to BMWs of the past. The rear of the car is more heavily disguised, but the back end appears to have a more conventional look than the Vision Neue Klasse. We haven’t caught a glimpse of the iX3’s interior yet, but we’ll update this page when we have more info.
We don’t know the iX3’s specs yet, but BMW has some ambitious aspirations for the Neue Klasse platform’s potential. They’re expecting it to increase range by 30%, reduce charge time by 30%, and run 25% more efficiently than the current generation of BMW EVs. We’ll see how close BMW gets to those claims when the iX3’s specs get released.
2025 BMW iX3 Price & Release Date
BMW hasn’t announced a release date for the iX3 yet. We’re tentatively referring to it as a 2025 model, but it might end up debuting later than that. Pricing also remains a mystery, and we’ll get a better idea of it once we learn more of the iX3’s specs and features.
