What To Expect
Having just undergone a substantial redesign for 2023, we expect the 2025 BMW X1 to arrive as a carryover for the 2025 model year. BMW hasn’t made an official announcement yet, but we aren’t expecting any significant updates given we’re not far removed from an all-new generation. Here’s what we know about the carryover 2025 BMW X1.
We’re not expecting dramatic changes to the X1’s styling for 2025. The current U11 BMW X1 generation adopted a somewhat more upright stance than the previous F48 model, giving the X1 an appearance more reminiscent of the larger X3 or X5 while still retaining its compact proportions. 2024 saw the addition of the sporty M35i trim, which adds aggressive touches like black trim, a larger grille, and quad exhaust tips.
The current X1′s interior takes after the rest of the BMW lineup with an ultra-modern aesthetic, and we expect to continue into 2025. The angular dash is dominated by a 10.2″ digital gauge cluster and a 10.7″ infotainment screen, the latter of which features the iDrive 9 operating system.
Ambient lighting and dual-zone climate control are standard, while heated seats, a heated steering wheel, a wireless charger, and a panoramic sunroof are optional. New for 2025 is the optional Silent Mode feature, which mutes the entertainment system, turns off the ambient lighting, activates do not disturb mode, and reduces information displayed in the gauge cluster.
2025 BMW X1 Engine & Specs
There are currently two engine options for the X1 for 2024, and we don’t expect that to change for 2025. The base xDrive28i model is powered by a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder that develops 241 hp. Upgrading to the M35i gets you 312 hp from a revised version of the same engine, and also adds larger brakes and adaptive suspension.
All X1s are all-wheel drive and deliver power to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. An electric variant called the iX1 is currently sold in some global markets, but it’s still unclear if or when the EV will make it stateside.
2025 BMW X1 Safety
The current X1 is offered with a competitive amount of safety and driver assistance features, which we again expect to remain unchanged for 2025. Automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, and parking sensors are all standard equipment. Adaptive cruise control and BMW‘s parking assist feature are both optional, the latter of which is new for the 2025 X1.
2025 BMW X1 Price
BMW hasn’t announced pricing yet, but X1 prices currently range from $41,495 to $50,895. We’re expecting an incremental increase for 2025.
The 2025 BMW X1 will compete with the Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class, Audi Q3, Volvo XC40, Alfa Romeo Tonale, Lexus NX, and BMW’s own X2.
2025 BMW X1 Release Date
No official release date has been given yet, but we’re expecting to see the 2025 X1 midway through 2024.
