The first 2026 Tesla Roadster comes with a fully electric car. This version was supposed to arrive in 2021, but it hasn’t appeared on the market yet, so we think there is a delay. The second-generation Roadster outperformed its predecessor thanks to the addition of two compact rear seats, a significantly longer driving range, and improved performance. Although most Model S and Model, When the Roadster concept was first revealed in the summer of 2017, Tesla CEO Elon Musk talked about a 1.9-second 60 mph time and a top speed of 250 mph. We hope these numbers can hold up when this sports car finally shows up.
2026 Tesla Roadster Design
On February 9, 2022, von Holzhausen said on Spike’s Car Radio podcast that the Roadster would be “an exciting flying machine” and that “defying gravity is an interesting idea.” Tesla is working feverishly on the new Roadster, according to the design chief. He stated that the Model S Plaid taught the business’s designers a valuable lesson. He added that the Plaid lessons will result in an even better Roadster than the brand had envisioned.
2026 Tesla Roadster Interior
The interior of the next Tesla Roadster is simple, as is usual for Tesla vehicles. It has a spaceship-themed steering yoke, a curved, ultra-thin bridge-style center console that has a large portrait touchscreen, and a sleek dashboard with carbon fiber trim.

Tesla, like Apple, has a way of doing things that isn’t always customer-friendly. Unlike other car companies that have embraced Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Tesla has not provided integration for these platforms. Tesla also doesn’t currently have Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant. However, things are changing. In December 2022, the company added Apple Music functionality to its cars via a software upgrade. At least one version of the Roadster will offer four seats, and while the rear seats may not be suitable for adults, they are an unusual feature in a supercar.
2026 Tesla Roadster Engine
When Musk introduced the new Tesla Roadster as a concept in November 2017, he boasted some high-performance estimates for the vehicle, including a 1.9-second time to 60 mph, a top speed of more than 450 mph, and a quarter-mile time. 8.8 seconds. That’s outrageous. For context, assuming 60 mph is correct, the Roadster would be a full second quicker than its main competitor, the petrol-powered McLaren 570S. During the meeting, Musk also mentioned that the Roadster will come standard with all-wheel drive. This isn’t too surprising. Tesla’s standard EV model uses two electric motors—one in the front and one in the back—to drive all four wheels, so it makes sense that the Roadster would use the same layout.

Tesla Roadster Battery Life
The 200-kWh battery is touted to provide up to 620 miles of range, but that number will be achieved only with extremely modest use; hitting the track for some flat-out scorching laps will significantly reduce that estimate.
Tesla Roadster Fuel Efficiency
The EPA has not revealed its fuel efficiency figures for the Roadster, but those numbers are expected to become available closer to the car’s debut date. We hope to have the opportunity to test the new Roadster. If/when we do, we’ll run it through our 75-mph highway fuel economy test and post the findings here.
2026 Tesla Roadster Price & Trims
The pricing of the 2026 Tesla Roadster is estimated to range from $200,000 to $250,000, depending on trim and options. Tesla said it will sell the standard Roadster for $200,000 and a limited-edition Founders Series for $50,000 more. We don’t know what separates the two, other than the fact that only 1000 Founders Series versions will be created. If you’re a collector, it might be worth the extra cash; otherwise, save your money. We’ll update this item as additional information about the car’s basic and optional features becomes available.
