What To Expect
The current generation of the Mazda3 was introduced in 2019 for the compact car’s fourth generation. With the Mazda3 set to enter its seventh model year on sale, reports indicate that the Mazda3 could receive a redesign.
Reports are unclear on what model year the redesign could arrive for, but we expect it to be for the 2026 model year. Official information on the 2026 Mazda3 isn’t available yet. Here’s what we know about the 2026 Mazda3.
A full redesign would see the 2026 Mazda3 gain an all-new design. The current model has a premium look with sporty touches, which we expect will continue to be the same theme for the fully redesigned model. Mazda currently offers the Mazda3 in both sedan and hatchback body styles, and we expect both of these to be available for the 2026 model year.
On the inside, the current Mazda3 features a high-end design with premium touches and upscale materials. A possible redesign could see the 2026 Mazda3’s cabin get updated with a new overall design, new materials, new tech features, and possibly more interior space. With Mazda moving further upstream, we expect the redesign to bring a more upscale look.
We expect the 2026 Mazda3 to come with new tech features, but we don’t know what kind of tech the compact vehicle will come with. The current model comes with an 8.8-inch display, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, two USB ports, Bluetooth, six audio speakers, and voice recognition. The 2026 Mazda3 should come with Mazda’s new infotainment system.
2026 Mazda Mazda3 Engine & Specs
Mazda hasn’t shared any information on what kind of powertrains are in the pipeline for the 2026 Mazda3. The current model comes with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 191 horsepower and is available with a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that’s rated at 250 hp.
A six-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are standard. All-wheel drive is available. Mazda is one of the few automakers to offer its compact car with a manual transmission.
We expect the Mazda3 to gain updated engines for 2026. With stricter fuel economy and emission requirements, we could see Mazda come out with an electrified 2026 Mazda3.

Standard safety features on the current Mazda3 include pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a driver attention monitor, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The 2026 Mazda3 should come with more advanced safety features.
2026 Mazda Mazda3 Price
Official 2026 Mazda3 pricing hasn’t been announced yet. We expect a full redesign to result in a higher price tag than the current model’s MSRP which ranges from $25,335 to $36,615.
Competitors in the compact segment include the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, Nissan Sentra, Volkswagen Jetta, and Hyundai Elantra.
2026 Mazda Mazda3 Release Date
The 2026 Mazda3 is expected to arrive before the end of 2025. We’ll have to wait and see if Mazda introduces a fully redesigned model or an updated Mazda3 instead. More information on the compact car should become available within the next year.
