The helmet’s full-width lighting bar joins the pointed nose’s compact LED headlamps. There are no false gates here; instead, there are a few small air vents to keep the batteries cool. On the side, this new car separates itself from existing Volkswagen electric vehicles. The ID4 is not a boxy SUV, but rather a sleek saloon with a sloping roofline. Like the Volkswagen ID5, you also get a glossy black side skirt and flush-fitting doorknobs.
Volkswagen ID.7 Interior
The new Volkswagen ID.7 cabin represents a substantial leap for the electric ID line. Its modest overhangs focus on the occupants, giving it a ‘particularly roomy sensation,’ says Volkswagen. It will almost certainly have a large and functional boot. Volkswagen has given the ID.7 a large cabin because it replaces the mid-size Passat family sedan in the range. Cargo capacity is also considerable, and instead of a standard trunk, the ID.7 has a liftback design akin to the gasoline-powered Arteon sedan. Volkswagen designed a complex but unusual air vent design that uses electric motors to regulate airflow to effectively distribute warm or cool air around the interior. The forthcoming 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 is described as a saloon, similar to the Tesla Model 3 and Hyundai Ioniq 6. Volkswagen calls it a saloon, but it’s unclear if the actual model will feature a saloon boot or a more practical liftback-style rear hatch. The new Volkswagen ID.7 will have a smooth, wind-cheating design and motifs similar to existing Volkswagen ID electric vehicles. The slanted roofline also helps to reduce drag, increasing the possible driving range of each charge.

The ID.7 will be launched with a single 282-horsepower electric motor powering the rear tires. A more powerful dual-motor all-wheel-drive model will be added later, but for now, this rear-wheel-drive configuration gives quite quick acceleration. It should be enough to propel the ID.7 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds.

However, battery sizes have been confirmed. The ID7 Pro will be available with a 77kWh battery from the start. This provides a range of up to 382 miles. Later on, a Pro S version with a larger 86kWh battery will be available, with a range of up to 435 miles on a single charge.

Volkswagen ID.7 has equipped it with a comprehensive suite of driver-aid technology designed to help drivers avoid collisions. The surround-view camera system, automated emergency braking with pedestrian and bicycle detection, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, traffic sign recognition, blind-spot monitors, park assist, an exit warning system, and a driver attention monitor are all standard on the ID.7 Pro.
